About Danusha
Danusha LamĂ©ris, is a poet and essayist, raised in Northern California and born to a Dutch father and Barbadian mother.Â
A Pushcart Prize recipient and winner of the Northern California Book Award for her book Bonfire Opera. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Best American Poetry, The Sun Magazine, The American Scholar, and more.
She served as the 2018-2020 Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County, California. and was honored by the 2020 Lucille Clifton Legacy Award.Â
