Litfield is an online writing community led by award-winning poet and essayist Danusha Laméris—a touchstone for your writing life.
We provide craft talks by Danusha and visiting poets, writing prompts and sessions in which to write together. There are dozens of hours of recorded craft classes and poetry readings by our esteemed visiting writers as well as opportunities to connect with other community members in real life.
While she has taught at Pacific University's MFA program, Danusha studied independently and understands how to support alternate paths.
What's Included in Your Membership
Danusha Laméris is a Pushcart Prize recipient and winner of the Northern California Book Award for her book Bonfire Opera. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Best American Poetry, The Sun Magazine, The American Scholar, and more.
Her widely shared poem “Small Kindnesses” has been translated into multiple languages, quoted in O Magazine, turned into a short film, and recently read by actress Helena Bonham Carter.
She served as the 2018-2020 Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County, California, and was honored with the 2020 Lucille Clifton Legacy Award. Â
Her most recent book is Blade by Blade (Copper Canyon Press, 2024)

Litfield welcomes poets who want to deepen their craft, sustain a writing practice, and connect with other poets.Â
 You might be finding your way into writing, returning after time away, working toward publication, or looking for a community after an MFA.
 We have poets who have just finished a writing program and are seeking structure and continued craft guidance. We have poets who are working on first, second and third books and are looking for feedback on their poems. And most of all, Litfield has attracted poets who care about and have respect for one another and the process of learning. This is a rigorous program but not about competition. If anything, we hope to challenge ourselves to keep evolving.
 The thing we know about learning to write poems is that it's a path that keeps changing, no matter how long you've been writing or how much you've been published. We support you in getting your work out in the world, and also in continuing to learn.Â

The Field Guide Mentorship offers five months of small-group workshops, personal consultations, and guidance for your poems and writing life.

Behind Litfield
Danusha Laméris and Armando Alcaraz bring together poetry, music, reflection, and community. Danusha guides the craft teaching and conversations with visiting poets. Armando leads reflection gatherings, contributes music and writing prompts, and helps members feel supported.
